Hon. Jaynee LaVecchia has been a Justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court since February 2000. As head of the Department of Human Services since 2007, Hon. Jennifer Velez focuses on several key initiatives, including Medicaid reform, creating employment opportunities and advancing supported placement of individuals with disabilities, and sustaining the safety net of services for the state’s older population and low-income individuals and families. She was previously first assistant child advocate in the Office of the Child Advocate and, prior to that, senior associate counsel and Assembly liaison in the Office of Governor’s Counsel for three administrations.
Lucinda Long joined Valley National Bank in 1991 from Lowenstein Sandler LLP where she specialized in mortgage lending and commercial real estate. Before practicing law, she taught political science at Montclair State University. She has held numerous leadership positions, including vice president and committee liaison for the New Jersey Corporate Council Association, a NJCCA director and chair of its Small Law Department Committee; vice chair of the New Jersey Bar Association Banking Law Section; and chair of the Bank Lawyers Council of the New Jersey Bankers Association.

Before joining the law school in 1993, she was with Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP, where her practice areas included commercial litigation and bankruptcy.
This year’s NJWLA WILL Platinum Gala will take place beginning at 6 pm at the Grove in Cedar Grove. Dee Dee Myers, former White House press secretary, will be the keynote speaker.

Customer Service: North Jersey Business "Gets It"
Customer service seems to be a thing of the past for many businesses. When it comes to something as important as car care and driving safety, good customer service, clear communication and qualified professionalism can literally make the difference between driving a safe or unsafe vehicle.
If you live in the Hudson, Bergen, Morris or Passaic County area and you own a car, then chances are you're familiar with ETD Discount Tire Centers. If you're a customer of ETD, then there's an equally good chance that you've experienced this unique company's commitment to customer service and safety.
This is a company that shows genuine care and concern for their customers which may be why they have generations of families coming back over the years, for tires or other car care needs. Whether you need an oil change, wheel alignment, or other common vehicle maintenance, the ETD ASE certified technicians will do the job right the first time while the entire ETD team provides you and your family with outstanding customer service. '
Think about the last time that you purchased new tires. Did they ask you for the size of your tires, and then seem annoyed or pompous when they had to look up the size for you? Did they carry on about speed ratings, load ratings, and blah, blah, blah until you wanted to scream? The ETD philosophy is simple: it's their job to know what fits your vehicle and your driving needs. ETD tire specialists are friendly, helpful, and professional. If you really want to know just how much they know about tires, ask. If not, they'll just keep it simple, easy, professional and quick.

NJ Business News: EPA Recognizes RVCC for Green Power Purchase
Raritan Valley Community College in Branchburg, NJ has joined the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) Green Power Partnership with its purchase of “green power.” As a Green Power Partner, RVCC is now using 800,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of green power annually, which is enough green power to meet 10 percent of the College’s electricity use.
Green power is electricity that is generated from environmentally preferable renewable resources, such as wind, solar, geothermal, biogas, biomass and low-impact hydro. Using green power accelerates the development of new renewable energy capacity nationwide and helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the power sector.
RVCC is buying renewable energy certificates (RECs) from Direct Energy. This demonstrates a proactive choice to switch away from traditional sources of electricity generation and support cleaner renewable energy alternatives.
“Joining the Green Power Partnership is a great investment for the College in a cleaner environment and we are proud to be recognized by the EPA,” said Brian O’Rourke, Executive Director of Facilities and Grounds at RVCC. “By purchasing certified RECs, we are reducing RVCC’s carbon footprint and continuing to demonstrate environmental leadership among community colleges. RVCC is the only community college in New Jersey and one of only five community colleges nationally that have joined the EPA’s Green Power Partnership.”
“EPA is excited to welcome Raritan Valley Community College as a Green Power Partner and applauds the school’s wind power purchase,” said Blaine Collison, Director of EPA’s Green Power Partnership. “By using green power, Raritan Valley Community College is demonstrating environmental leadership and helping to advance the market for clean, renewable energy.”
According to the U.S. EPA, RVCC’s green power use of 800,000 kWh is equivalent to avoiding the carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions of nearly 110 passenger vehicles per year, or the CO2 emissions from the electricity use of nearly 70 average American homes annually.
RVCC has been recognized for its commitment to Live Green. In 2009, RVCC was the first community college in the nation to sign an environmental stewardship agreement with the EPA. In 2011, RVCC became the first higher education facility to be certified by New Jersey Water Supply Authority (NJWSA) through the River-Friendly Business Program. Also in 2011, RVCC became the first institution in New Jersey to earn a STARS rating from the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) in recognition of its sustainability achievements.

The EPA’s Green Power Partnership is a voluntary program that encourages organizations to use green power as a way to reduce the environmental impacts associated with electricity use. The Partnership currently has nearly 1,400 Partner organizations voluntarily purchasing billions of kilowatt-hours of green power annually. Partners include a wide variety of leading organizations such as Fortune 500® companies, small and medium sized businesses, local, state and federal governments, and colleges and universities.
